Orange County Solid Waste <br />Scalehouse Building 01 74 00 -3 CLEANING AND WASTE <br />MANAGEMENT <br />I.During handling and installation,clean and protect construction in progress and adjoining <br />materials already in place. Apply protective covering where required to ensure protection <br />from damage or deterioration at Final Acceptance. <br />J.Clean and provide maintenance on completed construction as frequently as necessary <br />through the remainder of the construction period. Adjust and lubricate operable <br />components to ensure operability without damaging effects. <br />K.Limiting Exposures: Supervise construction operations to ensure that no part of the <br />construction completed or in progress,is subject to harmful,dangerous,damaging,or <br />otherwise deleterious exposure during the construction period. <br />3.2 DISPOSAL OF WASTE <br />A.General:Except for items or materials to be salvaged,recycled,or otherwise reused, <br />remove waste materials from Project site and legally dispose of them in a landfill or <br />incinerator acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. <br />1.Except as otherwise specified,do not allow waste materials to accumulate on- <br />site. <br />2.Remove and transport debris in a manner that prevents spillage on adjacent <br />surfaces and areas. <br />B.Burning:Do not burn waste materials. <br />C.Disposal:Remove waste materials from Owner's property and legally dispose of them. <br />D.Separate,store and dispose of hazardous wastes in accordance with local and EPA <br />regulations and additional criteria listed below: <br />1.Do not incinerate building products manufactured with PVC or containing <br />chlorinated compounds. <br />2.Disposal of fluorescent tubes to open containers is not permitted. <br />3.Do not co-mingle unused fertilizers with construction waste. <br />3.3 FINAL CLEANING <br />A.Provide final cleaning. Conduct cleaning and waste-removal operations to comply with <br />local laws and ordinances and Federal and local environmental and antipollution <br />regulations. <br />B.Cleaning: Employ experienced workers or professional cleaners for final cleaning. Clean <br />each surface or unit to condition expected in an average commercial building cleaning <br />and maintenance program. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions. <br />1.Complete the following cleaning operations before requesting inspection for <br />certification of Substantial Completion. <br />2.Clean Project site,yard,and grounds,in areas disturbed by construction <br />activities,including,waste material,litter,and other foreign substances. <br />3.Sweep paved areas broom clean.
