Orange County Solid Waste <br />Scalehouse Building 01 50 00 -2 TEMPORARY FACILITIES AND <br />CONTROLS <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.1 MATERIALS <br />A.General: Provide new materials or utilize undamaged,previously used materials in <br />serviceable condition if accepted by Engineer. Provide materials suitable for use <br />intended. <br />B.Fencing: <br />1.Safety Fence: Safety orange high density polyethylene fabric with a minimum of <br />4 feet in height,15 lbs.per 100 linear feet. Painted steel fence posts with ground <br />anchors and metal tabs stationed often enough to hold the fabric at a minimum <br />height of 3 feet 8 inches tall. <br />C.Tarpaulins: Fire-resistive labeled with flame-spread rating of 15 or less. <br />D.Water: Potable. <br />E.Self-Contained Toilet Units: Single-occupant units of chemical,aerated recirculation,or <br />combustion type;vented;enclosed with a glass-fiber-reinforced polyester shell or similar <br />nonabsorbent material with a self-contained or standalone exterior handwashing station. <br />F.Electrical Outlets: Properly configured,NEMA-polarized outlets to prevent insertion of <br />110 to 120-V plugs into higher-voltage outlets;equipped with ground-fault circuit <br />interrupters,reset button,and pilot light. <br />G.Fire Extinguishers: Hand carried,portable,UL rated. Provide class and extinguishing <br />agent as indicated or a combination of extinguishers of NFPA-recommended classes for <br />exposures. Comply with NFPA 10 and NFPA 241 for classification,extinguishing agent, <br />and size required by location and class of fire exposure and the requirements of the local <br />Governing agency. <br />H.Ground Protection Mats:4 foot by 8 foot,HDPE infused with rubber for traction mats <br />designed to protect landscaping from construction equipment. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 TEMPORARY UTILITIES <br />A.Water Service:Water for construction purposes is available from the Owner at no charge. <br /> Operate exterior hose bids only with properly fitted handles.Remove at the end of each <br />workday. Repair damage to hose bids or hose bib stems. Do not operate hose bibs with <br />pliers. <br />B.Electrical Power Service:Provide portable generators for electrical power requirements. <br />1.Electric Distribution:Provide receptacle outlets adequate for connection of power <br />tools and equipment. Provide waterproof connectors to connect separate lengths <br />of electrical power cords if single lengths do reach areas where construction <br />activities are in progress.
