Orange County Solid Waste <br />Scalehouse Building 01 25 00 -1 SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES <br />SECTION 01 25 00 <br />SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.1 SUMMARY <br />A.Section Includes: <br />1.This Section specifies administrative and procedural requirements for handling <br />requests for substitutions after award of Contract. <br />1.2 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br />A.Drawings and general provisions of the Contract,including General and Supplementary <br />Conditions and Specification Sections apply to this Section. <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS <br />A.Substitutions: Requests for changes in products,materials,and equipment,of <br />construction required by Contract Documents proposed by the Contractor are considered <br />requests for "substitutions". The following are not considered substitutions: <br />1.Revisions to Contract Documents requested by the Owner or Engineer. <br />2.Specified options of products and construction methods included in Contract <br />Documents. <br />3.Determination of and compliance with governing regulations and orders issued <br />by governing authorities. <br />1.4 SUBMITTALS <br />A.Submit requests for acceptance of equivalent items in writing to the Engineer during the <br />submittal process. No substitutions considered after acceptance of project submittals. <br />B.Substitutions after award are considered solely for convenience and approved by Change <br />Order in form of credit to the Owner. Bear additional costs related to making the <br />substituted material or system work including additional engineering,material or system <br />modifications,and time considerations relating to material or system installation <br />requirements. <br />C.Provide information sufficient for the Engineer to make a determination of equivalent <br />items. Engineer's determination of the equivalency of a product is final. The Engineer <br />reserves the right to request information or documentation for evaluation including but not <br />limited to the following: <br />1.Provide a letter describing in detail proposed changes,substitutions,or <br />deviations from the project or manufacturer's specifications. <br />2.A written explanation of why substitutions should be considered is required. <br />3.Statement indicating why specified product cannot be provided. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: FA2D0569-6BCE-4E38-B3EE-9B3EFD09A753
