This budget amendment recognizes an additional $70,000 Occupancy Tax <br /> Revenue and provides for the $70,000 appropriation within the Visitors Bureau Fund. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GOAL 2: HEALTHY COMMUNITY <br /> OBJECTIVE 7. The Health Department received a grant of$4,845 from Delta Dental to support oral health <br /> for children in Orange County. Funding will be used towards six (6) new Valo curing lights <br /> to be used to provide more efficient and higher quality dental restorations and sealants to <br /> pediatric patients. The Health Department received a subgrant award of $7,500 from the North Carolina <br /> Alliance of Public Health Agencies. This grant will allow the Health Department to partner <br /> with the Alliance and UNC on a research project to implement a multi-level intervention <br /> program that reduces hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) which is a major <br /> contributor to pregnancy-related morbidity and mortality. The funds will be used to offset a <br /> portion of the one (1) staff member assigned to this project.
