14 <br /> 1 Slide #20 <br /> Questions & Comments <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> /�(T Thank You for the Opportunity to Serve <br /> 2 <br /> 3 Commissioner Carter asked what the process is for the Board to receive updates on the <br /> 4 progress of the corrective actions in the audit. <br /> 5 Gary Donaldson said he can provide regular updates to the Board. <br /> 6 Commissioner Portie-Ascott said asked for the reason behind the contract amendment. <br /> 7 LeAnn Bagasala said it is a combination of several things, but ultimately the audit team <br /> 8 had to dedicate additional time above and beyond the initial contract. <br /> 9 Chair Bedford said for the 24t" consecutive year, Orange County was awarded the <br /> 10 Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the for fiscal year 2023, as <br /> 11 well as the Distinguished Budget Presentation for the 32nd year in a row for the 2024 Budget <br /> 12 Document. She congratulated the Finance and Budget offices for those accomplishments. She <br /> 13 said there is a nice list of all the federal dollars Orange County receives as well as a list of funds <br /> 14 that are directly provided to residents in the packet. She asked for clarification on what the money <br /> 15 in the Library Development Fund can go toward. <br /> 16 Gary Donaldson said the permissible use for that money is general and would cover most <br /> 17 capital and operating expenses for the library. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 A motion was made by Commissioner Carter, seconded by Commissioner Fowler, to <br /> 20 approve the Audit Services Contract Amendment for the Fiscal Year 2024 audit services. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 23 <br /> 24 5. Public Hearings <br /> 25 None. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 6. Regular Agenda <br /> 28 a. Project Management Options for School Construction <br /> 29 The Board continued discussion on how to approach project management for school projects <br /> 30 and provided direction to staff. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 BACKGROUND: Over the past two years, the County has developed a plan to fund the <br /> 33 construction of new and renovated school facilities through the passage of the bond referendum. <br /> 34 During this planning period, the School Capital Needs Workgroup and Board members have <br /> 35 identified the importance of project management in successfully completing these projects. <br />
