Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to local economic
development.
In creating a community space for outdoor learning, Jubilee is
committed to partnership with other organizations who can use the
space as well. In so doing we enhance the local outdoor education and
training economy. From 2021-2022, the outdoor recreation economy
grew at a rate of 4.8% compared to 1.9% for the U.S. economy. By
supporting this sector, we anticipate spurring local economic growth.
Reference: https://www.rvia.org/news-insights/outdoor-recreation-
contributes-over-1-trillion-us-
economy#:~:text=From%202021%2D2022%2C%20the%20outdoor,1.9
%25%20for%20the%20U.S.%20economy.

Criterion 6 - Amount and Duration of Engagement
This criterion has a maximum score of 3 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).

32. Please briefly describe the
target population to benefit
from the project.
Jubilee Healing Farm’s mission is to foster mental health through a
land-based approach, dedicated to cultivating an intergenerational
movement that nurtures human well-being and flourishing. We do this
particularly for Black and Brown people who have been excluded from
much land-based work in the context of 20th century urbanization due
to racial violence and rural poverty. Jubilee’s project will benefit Black
and Brown youth and young adults who are the target population for
our programming and strategic collaborations.
33. How many people will benefit
from your project?
Currently about 30 people per week participate in activities or
programs at Jubilee. Many more people benefit from fresh food
produced by Jubilee. As we are a rapidly growing organization, we
estimate this number will increase significantly over the next few years.
Over the lifespan of the project (50 years) it seems very conservative to
estimate that 5000 people will benefit through food, time in our space
or educational events provided by Jubilee.
34. Please describe how you will
engage with and/or educate
project participants and/or the
community.
The project participants will initially be our volunteers serving to help
build both the cob classroom and the food forest. Their engagement
will mean a hands-on experience as they learn how to construct and
design each aspect.
Upon completion, both the classroom and food forest will serve as
educational tools for our community. The classroom will host a variety
of workshops and community events, and our food forest will feed our
community and serve to educate our volunteers on how to grow
sustainable food for both our community and their families. Those
participating in programs hosted in the cob classroom will not only
Docusign Envelope ID: 61C3903E-05FE-49FE-A6AF-E50B7D61917E
