be used in the community center for wall and ceiling paneling. Habitat
is also working with Duke Energy to provide EV charging stations. The
community features three retention ponds, a walking trail, and a 5+
acre Resource Conservation District supporting a stream that runs
through a portion of the property. Residents will enjoy easy proximity
to public transportation and Chapel Hill’s fare-free bus system.

Since 2002, Habitat has certified its houses through the SystemVision
program, administered by Advanced Energy Corp. This program sets
standards for energy efficiency, comfort, and indoor air quality. By
meeting these standards, Habitat houses are already much greener
than the average new house built today. Habitat houses meet the
Bronze Level of the NAHB Research Center. Since 2019, Habitat Homes
have met the Silver Level for National Green Building Standard (NGBS)
Certification.

Criterion 3 - Efficient Use of Funds
This criterion has a maximum score of 4 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).
Please estimate the impact of your project per grant dollar requested. The cost per unit of impact must reflect
the total program budget divided by the total impact of the project described in this application. If the proposed
project is new, please write N/A in the Actual Annual Project Costs column of the table below, and just fill out
the last column.
Please see the Grant Project website for further guidance and the Background and Information document for
information about technical assistance. Applicants are encouraged to ask for clarification and technical
assistance as early as possible and no later than the posted deadline for questions.
Example
Actual Annual Project Costs
(If your proposed project
expands or accelerates an
ongoing effort)
Projected Project Costs
Total Cost of Project
$3,765 The full market cost of
rooftop solar panels on 13.6
homes is approximately
$272,000.
The full market cost of
rooftop solar panels on
14 homes is
approximately
$280,000.
Unit of Impact:
Total # of metric tons of
greenhouse gases reduced
44 metric tons
CO2e/year 2,240 tons for 13.6 houses
over 30 years
2,306 tons for 14
houses over 30 years
Cost Per Metric Ton of GHG’s
Reduced
$3,765/44 =
$86/metric ton $121 per ton $121 per ton
Unit of Impact:
Total # of individuals
served/benefitted
8,840
individuals/year 13.6 households 14 households
Cost Per Individual
Served/Benefitted
$3,765/8,840 =
$0.43/individual $6,667 per person,
assuming three people per
household on average
$6,667 per person,
assuming three people
per household on
average
Docusign Envelope ID: AA482F5E-25D4-439A-862A-65CC63DF3A74
