Applicants are encouraged to ask for clarification and technical
assistance as early as possible and no later than the posted deadline for questions.
12. How many tons of greenhouse
gas emissions will your project
reduce/avoid each year?
Please list any data sources
used and show the steps of
any calculations. Feel free to
submit in a separate document
if clearly labeled.
Once all homes are put into service, the proposed project will
reduce/avoid an estimated 77 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each
year. Each of the 14 houses will reduce carbon emissions by 5.5 tons
each year.

Annual carbon reduction per home: 10,979 lb = 5.49 tons

Lifetime carbon reduction for 14 homes over 30 years:
4,611,180 lb = 2,306 tons carbon.

This data was provided by Southern Energy Management and
calculated using the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA)
Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator.
13. Over how many years will this
emissions reduction take place
as a result of your project?
Please consider the expected
lifetime of the
technology/program/impact,
etc.
Emissions reductions will take place for a minimum of 30 years, the
estimated lifetime of rooftop solar panels. Over these 30 years, the
amount of carbon released into the air will be reduced by 2,306 tons.
This is the equivalent of planting 53,000 trees, or nearly 5 million miles
not driven (source: Southern Energy Management).
14. Please describe the location of
the emissions reduction.
Where would fossil fuels have
been burned if not for your
project? For projects that
reduce electricity usage or that
generate solar energy, feel
free to state “grid-tied
electricity reduction” if you
cannot determine the location
of emissions produced from
electric power generation.
This project will reduce emissions through grid-tied electricity
reduction.

15. Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to the amount of
emissions that it will reduce or
avoid.
The 32-acre Weavers Grove mixed-income community is designed to
be a model of energy efficiency. In addition to our standard green
building practices, Habitat plans to install solar panels on all Habitat
houses in the community with sufficient sun exposure. The Community
Center that lies at the heart of Weavers Grove will also be solarized.
Reclaimed wood from trees that were cleared to develop the site will
Docusign Envelope ID: AA482F5E-25D4-439A-862A-65CC63DF3A74
