OC Sportsplex Pool HVAC Unit Replacement
PDC Project 23022 HVAC Water Treatment 23 25 00 - 5
G.Inspect, remove sludge, and flush low points with clean water after cleaning process is completed.
Include disassembly of components as required.
H.After the pre-cleaning is complete, test by the water treatment consultant shall confirm and a
written report shall certify the completeness of the pre-cleaning by meeting the following minimum
requirements:
1.Total Iron as Fe shall be equal to or less than 0.5 ppm.
2.pH shall be equal to or less than 9.0.
3.TDS shall be equal to or less than 10%above clean water.
3.03 EXISTING SYSTEMS
A.When connecting into active existing systems, treat piping networks installed or reused by the
project and verify by lab analysis that the treatment levels per the treatment plan have been
attained. Submit validating report for approval.
B.Provide temporary valves, piping, and accessories to isolate the new piping from the existing and
treat the project’s piping prior to connection to the active system.
3.04 INSTALLATION
A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.Contractor shall install a BYPASS pipe wherever needed between the hydronic return &supply
lines to recirculate the entire system using the hydronic pumps installed. The diameter of this pipe
shall be at least 1/3 of the diameter of the main hydronic lines. The contractor shall also remove or
cap the temporary BYPASS to a permanent configuration when flushing is complete and approved
water chemistry is achieved.
C.Contractor shall remove all strainer screens prior to flushing all systems, including mud from the
dirt legs.Contractor shall clean and replace/reinstall all strainer screens after the final cleaning and
flushing procedure has passed the final test criteria noted herein.
D.Complete circulation must be achieved during the cleaning procedure. The Contractor shall
develop a plan to achieve a minimum velocity of three feet per second (3 ft/s)in the pipes to
ensure the cleaning chemicals will work properly. If necessary, isolate parts of the piping system to
attain at least (3 ft/s)in piping being flushed. All electric, pneumatic, and thermostatic operated
valves shall be full open. All deadend runs shall be looped together with piping not less than one-
third the size of the run.
3.05 CLOSED SYSTEM TREATMENT
A.Provide passivation/chemical treatment at system startup or immediately upon operation of a
system for temporary cooling and heating, whichever comes first.
B.Provide chemical treatment immediately after each system has been cleaned and
flushed. Thereafter immediately begin the approved water treatment maintenance program to
passivate and prevent corrosion, scale, and organic growth and to maintain treatment chemical
levels. Note that systems or parts of systems will not typically be started at the same time;adjust
treatment strategy accordingly.
C.Provide chemicals that comply with State and Federal regulations.
D.Provide one bypass feeder on each system. Install isolating and drain valves and necessary
piping. Install around balancing valve downstream of circulating pumps unless indicated
otherwise.
E.Introduce closed system treatment through bypass feeder when required or indicated by test.
F.Provide 3/4 inchwater coupon rack around circulating pumps with space for 12test specimens.
3.06 CLOSEOUT ACTIVITIES
A.Training: Train Owner's personnel on operation and maintenance of chemical treatment system.
1.Provide minimum of four hoursof instruction for two people.
2.Have operation and maintenance data prepared and available for review during training.
3.Conduct training using actual equipment after treated system has been put into full operation.
Docusign Envelope ID: D4F3B98E-0756-4A0C-A3AD-05AA32D39F1C
