OC Sportsplex Pool HVAC Unit Replacement <br />PDC Project 23022 Hydronic Piping 23 21 13 - 6 <br />8.Apply corrosion control chemicals with 2-3 days of flushing and cleaning procedure.Submit <br />reports confirming concentration. <br />9.Retesting and flushing <br />a.Any changes made to the piping systems after testing and/or flushing shall require <br />retesting and flushing of the affected portions of the system.If any portion of the piping <br />system is exposed to dirt or debris after the flush,it shall be re-flushed. <br />10.Contractor Certification <br />a.Provide a letter to the Engineer and Owner certifying the tests and flushes were <br />performed in accordance with the specifications,what the final results were,and what <br />the intermediate results were.The contractor's representative shall sign and date.A <br />copy shall be placed in the O&Ms. <br />11.The Engineer or Owner/CxA shall review the test and flush results prior to opening a new <br />portion of piping to a previously approved portion or an existing system.If the supporting <br />documentation is not reviewed by the Engineer prior to opening,the entire system shall be <br />flushed again. <br />3.04 INSTALLATION <br />A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br />B.Route piping in orderly manner,parallel to building structure,and maintain gradient. <br />C.Install piping to conserve building space and to avoid interference with use of space. <br />D.Group piping whenever practical at common elevations. <br />E.Sleeve pipe passing through partitions,walls,and floors. <br />F.Unless otherwise indicated,horizontal piping may be installed level or with a pitch up at 1"per 40' <br />in direction of flow.Install manual air vents at all high points where air may collect.If vent is not in <br />accessible location,extend air vent to nearest code acceptable drain location with vent valve <br />located at nearest accessible location to pipe.Terminate vent valve within two feet above ceiling in <br />accessible location. <br />G.Main branches and runouts to terminal equipment shall be made at top (first choice)or top 45 <br />degree (second choice),with drain valves suitably located for complete system drainage and <br />manual air vents located as per above. <br />H.Bottom connections to piping are not allowed under any circumstances,unless specifically <br />approved by the Engineer on a case by case basis.If permitted by the Engineer,a line size Y- <br />strainer with shutoff valve and blowdown valve shall be installed at branch connection. <br />I.Mitered elbows,welded branch connections,notched tees,and "orange peel"reducers are not <br />allowed.Unless specifically indicated,reducing flanges and reducing bushing are not allowed. <br />Reducing bushings may be used for air vents and instrumentation connections. <br />J.Contractor shall provide all manual air vents and drains (air vents at high points,drains at low <br />points)in order to allow for appropriate air venting and to permit complete drainage of the entire <br />system. <br />K.Cut threads so that no more than 3 threads remain exposed after joint is made.Apply thread <br />sealants to cleaned male ends.Assemble joint to appropriate depth and remove any excess pipe <br />joint compound from tightened joint. <br />L.Install valves,control valves,and piping specialties,including items furnished by others,as <br />specified and/or detailed. <br />M.Make connections to equipment installed by others where said equipment requires piping services <br />indicated in this section. <br />N.Install firestopping to preserve fire resistance rating of partitions and other elements,using <br />materials and methods specified​​. <br />O.Slope piping and arrange to drain at low points. <br />P.Install piping to allow for expansion and contraction without stressing pipe,joints,or connected <br />equipment.
