OC Sportsplex Pool HVAC Unit Replacement <br />PDC Project 23022 Hydronic Piping 23 21 13 - 3 <br />2.Use only long radius elbows having centerline radii of 1.5 pipe diameters unless otherwise <br />indicated. <br />3.Where size for a pipe segment is not indicated,the pipe segment shall be equal to the largest <br />pipe segment to which it is connected.Transition to smaller size shall occur on the side of the <br />fitting where smaller size is indicated. <br />4.Unless otherwise indicated,fittings and accessories connected to pipe shall be of the same <br />material as the pipe. <br />5.Use non-conducting dielectric connections whenever jointing dissimilar metals. <br />a.On 2"piping and smaller,it is permissible to use ball valves in lieu of dielectric unions. <br />C.Copper Press fittings may be used in accessible locations for piping 2"and below only. <br />1.Copper and copper alloy press fittings shall conform to material requirements of ASME <br />B16.18 or ASME B16.22 and performance criteria of ASME B16.51 and IAPMO PS 117. <br />Sealing elements for press fittings shall be EPDM.EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene <br />Monomer)is a synthetically manufactured and peroxidically cured all purpose elastomer. <br />Sealing elements shall be factory installed or an alternative supplied by fitting manufacturer. <br />D.Provide pipe hangers and supports in accordance with ASME B31.9 or MSS SP-58 unless <br />indicated otherwise. <br />E.Pipe-to-Valve and Pipe-to-Equipment Connections: Use ​flanges or unions​to allow disconnection <br />of components for servicing;do not use direct welded,soldered,or threaded connections. <br />F.Valves: Provide valves where indicated: <br />1.Provide drain valves where indicated,and if not indicated provide at least at main shut-off, <br />low points of piping,bases of vertical risers,and at equipment.Use ​3/4 inch​​ball​valves with <br />cap;pipe to nearest floor drain. <br />2.Isolate equipment using butterfly valves with lug end flanges or grooved mechanical <br />couplings. <br />3.For shut-off and to isolate parts of systems or vertical risers,use ball or butterfly valves. <br />2.02 HEATING WATER PIPING,ABOVE GRADE <br />A.Steel Pipe:ASTM A53/A53M,Type E for pipe getting welded,Schedule 40,black,using one of the <br />following joint types: <br />1.Welded Joints: ASTM A234/A234M,wrought steel welding type fittings;AWS D1.1/D1.1M <br />welded. <br />2.Threaded Joints:ASME B16.3,malleable iron fittings.2 inch and under only. <br />B.Copper Tube:ASTM B88 (ASTM B88M),Type ​L (B)​,drawn,using one of the following joint types: <br />1.Solder Joints: ASME B16.18 cast brass/bronze or ASME B16.22 solder wrought copper <br />fittings. <br />a.Solder: ASTM B32 lead-free solder,HB alloy (95-5 tin-antimony)or tin and silver. <br />b.Braze: AWS A5.8M/A5.8 BCuP copper/silver alloy. <br />2.Copper tube may be used on 2"pipe size and under. <br />3.Mechanical Press Sealed Fittings:Double pressed type complying with ASME B16.22, <br />utilizing EPDM,nontoxic synthetic rubber sealing elements. <br />a.Manufacturers: <br />1)Apollo Valves <br />2)Grinnell Products <br />3)Nibco <br />4)Viega LLC​​ <br />2.03 GLYCOL PIPING,ABOVE GRADE <br />A.Steel Pipe:ASTM A53/A53M,Type E for pipe getting welded,Schedule 40,black;using one of the <br />following joint types: <br />1.Welded Joints: ASTM A234/A234M,wrought steel welding type fittings;AWS D1.1/D1.1M <br />welded. <br />2.Threaded Joints:ASME B16.3,malleable iron fittings.Only for 2 inch and under. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: D4F3B98E-0756-4A0C-A3AD-05AA32D39F1C
