OC Sportsplex Pool HVAC Unit Replacement <br />PDC Project 23022 HVAC Piping Insulation 23 07 19 - 5 <br />2.Comply with ASTM B209/B209M,Temper H14,minimum thickness of 0.016 inch with factory- <br />applied polyethylene and kraft paper moisture barrier on the inside surface. <br />3.Thickness: 0.016 inch sheet. <br />4.Finish:​Embossed​. <br />5.Joining: Longitudinal slip joints and 2 inch laps. <br />6.Fittings: 0.016 inch thick die-shaped fitting covers with factory-attached protective liner. <br />7.Metal Jacket Bands: 3/8 inch wide;0.015 inch thick aluminum. <br />C.Reinforced Tape: <br />1.FSK tape suitable for sealing seams between insulation,insulated pipe bends,and fittings <br />resulting in a tight,smooth surface without wrinkles. <br />2.Comply with UL 723,ASTM E84. <br />3.Moisture Vapor Permeability: 0.00 perm inch,when tested in accordance with ASTM <br />E96/E96M. <br />4.Finish: Match insulation. <br />D.Plain Foil Tape: <br />1.Aluminum foil with pressure-sensitive adhesive on paper release liner. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 EXAMINATION <br />A.Test piping for design pressure,liquid tightness,and continuity prior to applying insulation <br />materials. <br />B.Verify that surfaces are clean and dry,with foreign material removed. <br />3.02 INSTALLATION <br />A.Install in accordance with ​manufacturer's instructions​and the MICA manual 8th edition.In cases of <br />conflict,the more stringent instructions shall apply. <br />B.Where existing piping insulation is either removed or damaged during construction,it shall be <br />reinsulated per these specifications. <br />C.Where insulation thickness exceeds 3 inches,the insulation shall be two layers.Secure first layer <br />before installing the next layer and stagger the joints. <br />D.Install multiple layers of insulation with longitudinal and end seams staggered. <br />E.Install accessories compatible with insulation materials and suitable for the service.Install <br />accessories that do not corrode,soften,or otherwise attack insulation or jacket in either wet or dry <br />state. <br />F.Install insulation with least number of joints practical. <br />G.Exposed Piping: Locate insulation and cover seams in least visible locations. <br />H.Insulated Pipes Conveying Fluids Below Ambient Temperature: <br />1.Insulate entire system,including fittings,valves,unions,flanges,strainers,flexible <br />connections,pump bodies,and expansion joints. <br />2.Insulation on all pipes or ducts conveying air or liquids below the ambient temperature is <br />required to have a continuous vapor barrier.On all insulation with a vapor barrier,seal the <br />joints,duct wrap seams,vapor retarder (ASJ)film seams and penetrations in insulation at <br />hangers,supports,anchors,and other projections with a vapor-barrier coating/mastic as <br />specified in the individual insulation sections. <br />3.For insulation application where vapor barriers are indicated,extend insulation on anchor legs <br />from point of attachment to supported item to point of attachment to structure.Taper and seal <br />ends at attachment to structure with vapor-barrier coating/mastic. <br />4.Install insert materials and install insulation to tightly join the insert.Seal insulation to <br />insulation inserts with adhesive or sealing compound recommended by insulation material <br />manufacturer. <br />5.Cover inserts with jacket material matching adjacent pipe insulation.Install shields over <br />jacket,arranged to protect jacket from tear or puncture by hanger,support,and shield. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: D4F3B98E-0756-4A0C-A3AD-05AA32D39F1C
