36 <br /> Department's groundwater protection program to consider the <br /> science around the current well rules and ensure that the rules are <br /> equitable while ensuring safe groundwater for all. <br /> o Healthy Community — Increase equitable access to care and social safety net <br /> programming to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of our <br /> community. <br /> o The Board of Health is the primary policy-making and adjudicatory <br /> body for the Health Department and is charged with protecting and <br /> promoting the public health of Orange County residents. <br /> o The Board has also been active in promoting Expanded Medicaid, <br /> including canvassing door-to-door and recommending the Health <br /> Department and DSS explore an improved referral program for <br /> eligible patients. <br /> o Housing for All — Promote equitable and accessible housing and address <br /> housing disparities through policies, partnerships, and collaboration to create a <br /> thriving community <br /> The Connections to Community Support Committee is focusing on <br /> access to affordable housing and has been gathering information <br /> about existing programs and initiatives to improve access to <br /> affordable housing. <br /> o Multi-modal Transportation — Collaborate with our regional partners to expand, <br /> integrate%onnect, and provide accessible public transportation options. <br /> o Nothing in 2024. <br /> o Public Education/Learning Community — Enhance and maintain quality school <br /> operations and infrastructure and cultivate lifelong learning. <br /> o The Board is working to reestablish relationships with the schools <br /> post-COVID. <br /> o Diverse and Vibrant Economy — Foster an environment that attracts and <br /> retains sustainable and diverse businesses and visitors, employment <br /> opportunities and diversifies our tax base. <br /> o Not Applicable. <br /> Describe the collaboration relationship(s) this particular board has with other advisory <br /> boards and commissions? <br /> ➢ The Health Director serves as the designee for several Board activities and <br /> collaborative initiatives. The Board receives monthly updates via the Health <br /> Director's Report, which shows meetings, presentations, and other <br /> activities completed each month.
