LANDSCAPE & TREE PRESERVATION PLAN
No substantial changes to the existing landscaping and tree canopy are anticipated if this
conditional zoning application is realized in full. A primary succession Piedmont forest of largely
softwood trees is regrowing in the “future development area” on the southern part of the
campus, but this growth is only about ten years old; it was cleared during school construction
and has not commitment to preservation or cultivation.
The 30-foot easement for a “pedestrian path” shown on the site plan and provided as a
condition of approval will require crossing of the existing 75-foot landscaped buffer on the
frontage of the property facing New Brady Brown School and Orange Grove Roads. The exact
location and orientation is to be determined but, as presented, should require a single 30-foot
perpendicular crossing of the landscaping. Construction of a pedestrian or multiuse path could
evaluate alternatives to minimize such disturbance at preliminary engineering design.
28
