1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: April 1, 2025 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-d <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution to Rescind a County Review Officer Appointment <br /> DEPARTMENT: Tax Administration <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Resolution Nancy Freeman, Tax Administrator, <br /> NC General Statute 47-30.2 (919) 245-2735 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve a resolution to rescind one (1) County Review Officer appointment as <br /> that individual is no longer employed by the County. <br /> BACKGROUND: North Carolina General Statute 47-30.2 requires that all persons appointed as <br /> plat review officers be appointed by a resolution recorded in the Register of Deeds office. Review <br /> Officers ensure that all plats recorded comply with the plat requirements set out in the North <br /> Carolina General Statutes. On September 16, 1997, the Board of Commissioners first adopted a <br /> Review Officer resolution. Additional resolutions appointing and rescinding review officers have <br /> since been recorded, including a resolution dated November 5, 2020. <br /> Lori Berry was appointed on March 6, 2014. Ms. Berry is no longer employed with Orange County <br /> and can be removed from the list of personnel authorized to carry out the Review Officer <br /> responsibilities for Orange County. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: There are no Orange County Strategic Plan Goals <br /> applicable to this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the resolution to rescind the appointment of Lori Berry as a County Review Officer <br /> for Orange County. <br />
