Benedict, Director, ext 2592 <br />Glenn Bowles, Planner II, ext 2577 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />® Copies of letters sent to MTP ___ <br />PURPOSE: To receive public comment on the proposed Wireless Element of the Master <br />Telecommunications Plan (MTP). <br />BACKGROUND: This is an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance, including but not limited to <br />Article 6,18 and Article 8,8, and specifically Article 6.18.5, entitled "Master Telecommunications <br />Plan", and Article 8.8,17a, entitled "Telecommunications Towers", to allow for the adoption of a <br />"Master Telecommunications Plan" Map ("MTP") that will identify sites within the County where <br />Telecommunication Tower facilities already exist and also pre-identified properties (Pre- <br />identified Properties") whose owners have expressed an interest in locating Telecommunication <br />Towers in the future, subject to all Orange County Zoning Ordinance requirements. Properties <br />identified on the MTP may include those related to fire stations, voluntary agricultural districts, <br />public and private utility authorities, State and County owned properties, privately owned <br />properties, etc, <br />As with any other proposed telecommunications tower facility, an application to site a tower <br />facility on Pre-identified Property on the MTP may be approved only upon the issuance of a <br />Special Use Permit and after meeting all other Orange County Zoning Ordinance requirements. <br />Provided the initial MTP plan is adopted, the County will consider additions or modifications to <br />the MTP annually at the February Public Hearing each year.
