Criterion 7 - Time to Complete
This criterion has a maximum score of 3 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).

37. How much time will your
project require to demonstrate
the positive impacts you
describe?
While we anticipate continuing positive impacts from this project in
perpetuity, we expect to see positive impacts within two years
following commencement of the project. At this stage, we will have
completed tree plantings, and the Piedmont prairie restoration site will
have been seeded and begun to see growth from the native species
planted there. Based on observations from Bluestem Conservation
Cemetery, restored Piedmont prairie sites begin to attract both wildlife
and visitors within two years, as flowers begin to bloom, and native
plants provide food and habitat for insects, birds, and other native
fauna.
It is important to note that, while impacts are expected to be
noticeable within two years, this project is anticipated to have a
increasing effect over time as trees grow larger and native Piedmont
prairie plants continue to make contributions not only to carbon
sequestration, but to the health of the soil and water of Orange
County. The importance of these long-term effects is even greater in
light of climate change, habitat fragmentation, and pollution, which
make intact native ecosystems rarer every day.

Submission Guidance

Applications are to be submitted as email attachments to Orange County Sustainability at
sustainability@orangecountync.gov. Please also CC the lead staff member supporting the Commission for the
Environment, Wesley Poole at wpoole@orangecountync.gov.

The Application Submittal Deadline for the Fiscal Year 24-25 round of the Community Climate Action Grant is
Friday, August 16, 2024 at 5pm.

Please note that late, handwritten, or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Submit all documents including attachments in PDF format. This will ensure the original content and formatting
is preserved.
