We will also monitor engagement through relying on
website analytics for any online resources we provide. Additionally, we
may use signage with QR codes placed near the planted trees, allowing us
to track interactions and gather data on community engagement. These
methods will help us assess the effectiveness of our educational initiatives
and ensure that our project is achieving its goals. All our data and success
indicators will be integrated with social justice and racial equity measures
as outlined in Criterion 1 on this grant application.
36. Please describe any other
aspect of your project that
is relevant to the amount,
or quality, or length of
engagement and/or
education that your project
will produce.
Schoolchildren represent the future stewards of our planet. As we confront
the climate emergency, it is crucial to invest in their education and raise
awareness about environmental issues and solutions. This program
addresses this need by embedding environmental education into school
programs and providing students with the tools to make a tangible impact
on their surroundings. By collaborating with students, teachers, parents,
and school staff to integrate these lessons into daily learning and planting
trees that will thrive for over 100 years, we are ensuring that the benefits
of this project extend well beyond our immediate involvement. This
approach not only promotes long-term environmental stewardship but
also empowers future generations with the knowledge and skills needed to
enhance their communities and protect the planet, ensuring a healthy and
resilient future.

Criterion 7 - Time to Complete
This criterion has a maximum score of 3 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).

37. How much time will your
project require to
demonstrate the positive
impacts you describe?
Over a two-year period, we will successfully complete the tree plantings
across all 13 school campuses through Shade for Schools - Orange County.
The program will be divided into two phases: Phase 1 will involve planting
at up to 6 schools during the 2024-25 planting season (October through
March), followed by Phase 2 at the remaining 7 schools during the 2025-26
planting season. All tree planting is expected to be finalized by March
2026, with a subsequent follow-up period dedicated to replacing any trees
that do not survive to ensure long-term success and impact. We anticipate
the initial positive effects of the program will be evident by Fall 2024 for
the first group of schools.

We are committed to meeting the funding requirements, including
submitting quarterly written progress reports and adhering to the terms of
the Performance Agreement throughout the program period.

Thank you for your review and consideration of Trees for the Triangle’s Shade for Schools – Orange County
program proposal for the Orange County Community Climate Action Grant!
Docusign Envelope ID: D22675F9-86C0-429B-8CAD-74E02C6C68FC
