Guided by the Vision Themes,these articulate a more specific desired result to be <br /> achieved and set the stage for the policies and measurable actions that will achieve the Plan <br /> Goals. <br /> During the next 25 years,Orange County will strive to achieve the following Goals through its <br /> land use planning policies and actions. <br /> iF <br /> Regional and Local Growth: Position Orange County as a leader in the <br /> region for balancing the competing priorities of conservation and growth, <br /> by encouraging sustainable development patterns that protect key <br /> 9 .2 environmental and agricultural assets and meet local needs for growth. <br /> Q <br /> Agriculture, Working Lands, and Open Space: Limit the loss of farms, <br /> working lands, open spaces,critical habitats,and other important <br /> N conservation areas by guiding growth to areas near existing towns, into rural <br /> E conservation neighborhoods,fostering public and/or private conservation <br /> seasements,ensuring erosion control and stormwater best practices,and by <br /> continuing to implement and encourage programs that preserve, enhance, <br /> C and invest in these places. <br /> � Environment, Parks, and Recreation: Protect and sustain the county's <br /> > natural resources for the continued good of all, including the encouragement <br /> _ of forest preservation,water quality and stream protection,carbon <br /> .3 sequestration,and preserving high-quality, intact,and connected wildlife <br /> habitats.
