82 <br /> N <br /> Align municipal • county land use <br /> planning with current • future transit <br /> Orange County will work with local jurisdictions and transit agencies <br /> to ensure land use decisions support equitable and affordable access <br /> to amenities and employment opportunities to reduce vehicle miles <br /> traveled and promote public health and safety. <br /> The intent of this policy is to support transit-friendly development in strategic locations <br /> through County land use policy.Transit-friendly development can improve quality of <br /> life by providing access to important services and minimizing vehicle traffic,which is <br /> beneficial for public safety and for the environment. Improving equitable and affordable <br /> access to amenities and employment opportunities can include access to shopping, <br /> medical centers,and educational institutions. Objectives of this policy include: <br /> • Continue to support enhancements and improved connections between transit <br /> services operating in Orange County(Orange County Public Transportation, <br /> Chapel Hill Transit, GoTriangle, PART: Route 4 1 Alamance Burlington Express 4). <br /> • Identify transit stop opportunities for fixed route service in the review process of <br /> new development proposals. <br /> • Ensure that all Economic Development Areas will have fixed route service access, <br /> including potential investments in Park n Ride lots. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY LAND USE PLAN 2050 79 <br />
