81 <br /> TRANSPORTATION AND MOBILITY <br /> POLICIES <br /> TA Ensure that • use decisions su • • • <br /> bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts. <br /> Orange County will coordinate with local municipalities and other <br /> agencies to ensure that county land use decisions complement <br /> pedestrian and bicycle planning efforts. <br /> The intent of this policy is to promote county land uses that support bicycle and <br /> pedestrian planning efforts, including those of other local jurisdictions. Compact <br /> development in strategic locations can generate better access by walking, biking, or <br /> taking public transit. Compact,sustainable development is also expected to reduce <br /> VMTs for commuting trips for services and good and, perhaps,employment. Objectives <br /> of this policy include: <br /> • Coordinate with municipalities to support state funding decisions for bicycle and <br /> pedestrian projects within Orange County. <br /> • Consider opportunities to support planning or funding of bicycle and pedestrian <br /> projects that connect communities in unincorporated Orange County to adjacent <br /> municipalities and specifically to commercial,employment, recreational, or other <br /> destinations.. <br /> 78 PUBLIC REVIEW DRAFT <br />
