69
Support development ofaffordable
housing.
Orange County will support and promote affordable housing initiatives in
the County.
The intent of this policy is to drive the development of affordable housing within
the county by advancing partnerships and initiatives that support and incentivize
affordable housing developments that support sustainability and energy efficient
objectives. Working with municipal partners and non-profit housing developers, the
County will support the following policy objectives:
• Continue to support the sustainable development of energy efficient and
affordable housing on properties owned by local governments, such as the Greene
Tract.
• Continue to encourage the use of ADUs and evaluate regulations that may
discourage housing types other than single-family in some areas of the county,
relying instead on density and impervious cover regulations.
• Revise the County's Home Park standards to better allow for the redevelopment of
manufactured home parks to serve as an additional housing option.
• Enhance the Unified Development Ordinance's density bonus for provision of
affordable housing units, including an allowance to reduce lot sizes.
66 PUBLIC REVIEW DRAFT
