13 <br /> COMMUNITY • <br /> The Vision Themes express the aspirations of the Orange County Land Use Plan <br /> 2050 and articulate the County's land use priorities,organized around the vision of <br /> Sustainable Development.The three themes help establish a context for focusing on <br /> the core elements of this Plan: Goals, Policies,and Actions. By 2050, Orange County will <br /> achieve the following: <br /> Vision Theme 1: Cultivate Sustainable Development <br /> Orange County will cultivate responsible and equitable land use and environmental <br /> policies that meet the needs of the present community without compromising <br /> the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Recognizing the <br /> interconnectedness of social,economic,and environmental sustainability,the County <br /> will accomplish this through the additional Vision Themes below. <br /> Vision Theme 2: Continue to Protect Vision Theme 4: Implement Sustainable <br /> Natural Resources, Watersheds, and Transportation Systems and Economic <br /> Open Spaces; and Preserve Agricultural Development Initiatives <br /> Lands <br /> The County will reduce vehicle miles <br /> The County will ensure the sustainability, traveled by supporting design of walking, <br /> resiliency,and health of our natural biking,and public transit opportunities <br /> resources by protecting wildlife habitats within developments in municipal growth <br /> and corridors, riparian areas, open areas and support walkable environments <br /> spaces,and critical lands vital to water in rural-scale neighborhoods to lower <br /> resources.We will also preserve our natural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and <br /> and cultural heritage sites,agricultural help achieve an overarching climate <br /> lands,and working forests as important action goal of 100% GHG reductions by <br /> contributors to our local quality of life, 2050.
