I'm a graduate student in <br />Gerontology. I have done research projects on chonic illness, nursing home placements <br />and HIV /AIDS among others. My internship at the Department of Social Services has <br />given me an opportunity to perform functional assessments. Case managements and <br />develop service plans for elders in various facilites and homes. <br />Volunteer Experience: <br />Adv. Committee of Long -term Adult Care Homes (Member), Burke County. Volunteer at <br />Autumn Care Nursing Home, Burke County, Volunteer, UNC Botanical Garden, <br />Horticultural Therapy. I was an active volunteer at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Burke <br />County and implemented a new reading program and acquired computers for resident <br />usage. To keep them emntally challeged and widen their social networks. I also <br />developed a grant propsal to acquire funds for Foothills Service Project. An organization <br />that strives elderly population age in plae, at their homes. <br />Education: <br />Graduate Student in Gerontology (Institue of Aging, UNC - Charlotte) <br />Other Comments: <br />I relocated to Chapel Hill, a week ago and looking forward to have a opportunity to make <br />a difference, in the lives of ewiderly people in Orange County. I believe in active aging. <br />Staying active phyically and mentally, being productive and giving back to society. All <br />elders like to age in their homes.
