Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />May 14, 1965 <br />393 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Friday, May 14, 1965, <br />at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. <br />Members Present: Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and <br />Carl M. Smith. <br />Member Absent: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett. <br />Vice-Chairman Walker assumed the chair in the absence of Chairman Bennett. <br />W. H. Hester was present to represent Associated Surveys. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to hear appeals from property owners from their 1965 tax <br />assessments. <br />The Tax Supervisor presented to the Board a list of cases which he felt for good cause <br />should be heard. <br />The following taxpayers were heard, and the Board took the action indicated: <br />Zvi. Map Reference Taxpayer Action <br />Hb. 5-B-4 Paul L. Wilkerson Failed to appear, no change <br />Hb. 34-E-10 & 8-D-10 Mrs. T. D. Moon Failed to appear (Later her repre- <br />sentative advised the Tax Supervisor <br />that she did. not receive the notice of <br />hearing. A new appointment was <br />scheduled at a later date) <br />Hb. 12-D-4 Glode J. Laws Failed to appear, no change <br />Hb. 1-B-1 George & Walter Lucas No change <br />Hb., 1-B-2 Walter Lucas George Lucas appeared for Walter Lucas. <br />Board set following values: Land $500, <br />Building $6,785, Tax value $5,100. <br />Hb. 23-A-9 W: B. Coleman Failed to appear,.requested new appoin- <br />tment. New appointment granted. <br />C. G. Donald Oakley Board requested Tax Supervisor to <br />look at this property again. <br />C. G. Thomas Anderson Board set following values: Land $6,27( <br />Building $200, Tax Value $4,530. <br />Eno (Lots 25-26 &29) Irma Dillon Failed to appear, no change <br />Eno (10.9 acres) M. H. Baker Failed to appear, no change <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned with <br />plans to meet again on .Monday, May 17th at 9:30 A.M. <br />Harvey D. C. <br />Members Present. Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners Gordon B. Cleveland, Willian C. <br />Ray, Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. <br />Members absent: None. <br />The purpose of this meeting was to hear appeals from 1965 property tax assessments. <br />W. F. Hester was present to represent Associated Surveys. <br />The Tax Supervisor presented a list of cases to the Board and recommended that for good cause <br />these cases be heard. <br />The following cases were heard, and the Board took the action indicated: <br />T WP. Map Reference Taxpayer Action <br />Hb. 2- 8- John P. Carson Hoard set following values: Land $1700, <br />C. H. 8A Building ;(3665, Tax value $3760. <br />(Hills of New Hope) W. H. Turner Board decided that this 31 acre tract <br />(sub-divided into lots) should be asses- <br />sed on an acreage basis rather than a <br />lot bases, and set a per acre value at <br />$1425. Total value $44,175. Tax <br />value $30,920. <br />0. H. 23--C-25 Arthur Allen No change
