18 <br />HEALTH <br />Call upon the Board of Health, Healthy Carolinians of Orange County, the Economic <br />Development Commission, the Orange County Transportation Services Board and the <br />Chambers of Commerce (Hillsborough and Chapel Hill-Carrboro) to,join together and <br />assist the BOCC to address disparities documented in the Orange County Community <br />Heath Assessment (February 2003) such as, access to health care in northern Orange <br />county, minority residents feeling unwelcome in the health care setting, and the inability <br />to access consistent and convenient transportation to specialist providers. <br />EDUCATION <br />Call upon the BOCC to press forward in finding durable solutions -through focused <br />collaboration and funding deliberations - to eliminate disparities in facilities and <br />resources that may exist between the Orange County and the Chapel Hill-Cazrboro <br />School Districts, and help accelerate improvements in the drop out and suspension rates <br />and educational achievement indicators for African-American students in both districts.. <br />05-04-04 <br />
