~~ ~~a~~~ <br />~~~~ <br />~:rrr <br />n <br />MICHAEL F EASLEY <br />60VEflNOfl <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL <br />2004 <br />(~1~~~,~t~¢ <br />BY THE GOVERNOR OF'I'HE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina's Emergency Medical Services system is n vital public service; and <br />WHEREAS, We members of the Emergency Medical Services team are ready to provide life <br />sustaining care to those in need twenty-four hours a day, seven days n week; and <br />WHEREAS, over the years, the quality of emergency care has dramatically improved the survival <br />and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury, and <br />WfffiREAS, North Carolinians benefit daily from the dedicated efforts, Imowledge and skills of the <br />emergency medical team, career or volunteer. technicians; paramedics; emergency nurses; emergency <br />physicians; rescue squhd workers; firefighters; public safety telecommunicators; public information, <br />education and relations specialists; emergency vehicle maintenance technicians; ndministzators; educators; <br />disaster response personnel; and, others who received specialized training and continuing education to <br />enhance and maintain their lifesaving skills; and <br />WHEREAS, injury prevention, public education and the appropriate use of the Emergency Medical <br />Services system will help reduce hea1W care costs; and <br />WI~REAS, to recognize the value and accomplishunents of the Emergency Medical Services team, <br />we set aside a special period to observo the contributions of these men and women to our people and State; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, MICHAEL F. EASLEY, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do <br />hereby proclaim May 16-22, 2004, ns "EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK" in North <br />Carolina, and call upon all citizens to observe this period with appropriate programs and activities. <br />~I`~i~ <br />MICHAEL P.
