81 <br /> Slide #53 <br /> Future Planning and Opportunities <br /> The Agricultural Preservation Board (APB)Subcommittee is finalizing the draft <br /> update to the Agricultural Development and Farmland Protection Pion for initial <br /> presentation to Board of County Commissioners in Late Winter/Early Spring. <br /> January 15: APB meeting-gather APB member feedback on the current draft of the plan <br /> (circulated to members on Dec 15 for review). <br /> By January 30: Revised draft(incorporating APB feedback at 1/15 meeting)circulated to <br /> APB members and Staff for final comments or approval by Feb 7-prepare and submit <br /> abstract and schedule presentation to BOCC. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> Mike Ortosky said one last thing he wants to share is he is working with Amy Eckberg <br /> and others on the possibility of a Department of Energy to install an agrivoltaics research project <br /> at the Breeze Farm. He said Central Pines COG will help draft the plan. He explained <br /> agrivoltaics for the Board. <br /> Jonathon Smith said the goal of that project is to demonstrate to area farmers how they <br /> can do it on their farm. He said going forward, there will be approximately $30K in interest <br /> available annually at the Breeze Farm for improvements. <br /> Evaluation and Next Steps <br /> Chair Bedford said she appreciated being able to do a deep dive into the subjects today. <br /> Commissioner Carter expressed thanks to staff for their work every day and to the <br /> retreat planning committee for the agenda. <br /> Adjournment <br /> A motion was made by Vice-Chair Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Fowler, to <br /> adjourn the meeting at 3:53 p.m. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Jamezetta Bedford, Chair <br /> Recorded by Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board and Tara May, Deputy Clerk to the Board <br /> Submitted for approval by Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board. <br />
