This is a unique opportunity. <br />X Unknown (please describe): We will, of course, <br />continue to apply for grants to provide the 40% matching <br />required for EPA installations in Bolin Creek and for funds <br />for training and BMP installations in other Orange County <br />areas suffering from flooding and erosion, including the <br />Triangle Community Foundation, CDM Smith, CitiBank, <br />and Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. It is most <br />appropriate and timely for the OCCCA program to provide <br />the funds we need to continue our program in Orange <br />County. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Criterion 5 - Local Economic Development <br />This criterion has a maximum score of 3 pts (out of 26 pts). <br /> <br />29. How many Orange County <br />residents are employed by <br />your organization? <br />Urban Sustainability Solutions is currently small. All <br />employees are part-time; two of three live in Orange County. <br />The board is entirely volunteers; two of the five are Orange <br />County residents. One of our three additional volunteers is <br />an Orange County resident. All ten teachers who will receive <br />stipends for their training are employed in Orange County. <br />All 50 students participating in our program will be Orange <br />County residents. <br />30. What project materials will <br />be purchased from <br />sources within Orange <br />County or North Carolina? <br />What percent of the total <br />materials do these <br />represent? <br />We have partnered with Jeanette O’Connor <br />(https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeanette-o-connor-8b617251/), director of <br />Lands and Waters South (a sustainable landscape company <br />in Carrboro), and she has agreed to be our landscape <br />contractor and to incorporate and oversee BMP plantings by <br />USS teachers and children. Frank Brown, owner of CFB <br />Contracting LLC in Selma, North Carolina <br />(https://www.linkedin.com/in/frank-brown-b3801210/), is our site- <br />preparation contractor, who has worked for over ten years <br />with the pilot program in Durham County. Our cistern <br />installer is Demetrius Thompson, owner of Triangle Outdoor <br />Living and Landscaping in Durham, NC <br />(https://www.linkedin.com/in/demetrius-thompson-87a3a766/).
