3441
27. Please describe one to
three key partnerships/
collaborations that add the
most value to the success
of the proposed project.
Please see answers to questions 22 and 23, particularly:

1. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a federal
government organization whose interest in successfully
supporting green infrastructure practices throughout NC and the
United States is legally required: https://www.epa.gov/green-
infrastructure/green-infrastructure-funding-opportunities. In
addition to projects already completed using awarded EPA
funding, multiple projects are planned for this Fall and next
Spring. As our current EPA funding is restricted to the Bolin
Creek Watershed in Orange County, we are applying for
additional EPA funding for Tom’s Creek and other impaired
waterways in Orange County. Noting that EPA funding generally
covers only 60% of installation costs, the extra funding we
receive from OCCCA is imperative to provide the remaining
40% of costs and enable 100% free installations on historically
underserved properties.
2. Funding from our 2023 OCCCA grant award was instrumental in
completing USS’s signature project in 2024 at the Weaver
Community in Carrboro, NC (https://clarinet-cymbals-
2lmg.squarespace.com/portfolio/weaver). The 2024-25 OCCCA
funding we seek will pay for BMP installations in Orange County
— both by continuing to match (40%) EPA funding for the Bolin
Creek area and by providing 100% of costs for
projects/installations in the Tom’s Creek watershed and the
underserved areas around Carrboro Elementary School and
CW Stanford Middle School.
3. The founder of Burt’s Bees Foundation, Matt Kopac, has
supported USS’s pilot program in Durham throughout its
existence (see #23 above); and Burt’s Bees Foundation was the
first to provide funding to our organization. Since then, Burt’s
Bees has doubled its funding and encouraged us to apply for
more.
Docusign Envelope ID: 7E7D300B-F83F-4917-A8A3-638B79C7D566
