2141
11. Please describe any other aspect of your
project that is relevant to Social Justice,
Environmental Justice and Racial Equity.
Though USS’s program will install real
projects that will reduce CO2 emissions,
sedimentation, erosion and waterway
pollution in real time, its biggest benefit is the
important, practical, job-ready skills it
provides participating teachers and students,
who can’t help but educate others and
expand the public’s understanding and use
of these sustainable stormwater best
management practices. In addition to their
environmental benefits, these BMP
installations also beautify the neighborhood
with native and flowering plants that have
historically only been associated with
wealthier (and generally white)
neighborhoods and homeowners’
associations. These plants support
songbirds, bees and other pollinators,
benefiting that aspect of environmental
stewardship as well.

Criterion 2 - Emissions Reduced
This criterion has a maximum score of 4 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).
Please see the Grant Project website for estimation tools and the Background and Information
document for information about technical assistance. Applicants are encouraged to ask for
clarification and technical assistance as early as possible and no later than the posted deadline
for questions.
Docusign Envelope ID: 7E7D300B-F83F-4917-A8A3-638B79C7D566
