1341
5. Please select the
jurisdiction(s) where your
project is focused and
briefly state how your
project aligns with the
relevant Climate Action
Plans (2-4 sentences):

Please name the action
items from each relevant
plan that best align with
your proposed project.
X Carrboro: https://townofcarrboro.org/928/Community-
Climate-Action-Plan
X Chapel Hill:
https://www.sustainchapelhill.org/featured/2020/2/18/climat
e-action-and-response-plan
X Orange County:
https://www.orangecountync.gov/3096/Climate-Action-Plan

This proposed project aligns with the above plan(s) in the
following ways:
Carrboro and Chapel Hill: “to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions while raising the community’s awareness of
and involvement in solutions to global climate change
and a post-carbon energy future, adaptation to changes,
and enhancement of ecosystem resilience.”
Recommendations are provided around the themes of
“community integration” and “ecosystem protection and
restoration”, among others. In addition to climate change
mitigation, the preferred results outlined by Carrboro’s
plan include “financial savings, the creation of new jobs,
improved air quality and public health, and healthier
forests and streams.” Our program outlined herein
addresses all of these.
Orange County: 1) “Providing for safety and welfare of all
Orange County residents” and 2) “long-range planning for
county needs (capital investment plan)” - these are
among Orange County commissioners’ top priorities, and
our program outlined herein serves them both. In
particular, our program addresses Orange County’s goals
to 1) “Implement planning and economic development
policies which create a balanced, dynamic local
economy, and which promote diversity, sustainable
growth, and enhanced revenue while embracing
community values; 2) “Create, preserve, and protect a
natural environment that includes clean water, clean air,
wildlife, important natural lands, and sustainable energy
for present and future generations”; and 3) “Ensure a
high quality of life and lifelong learning that champions
diversity, education at all levels, libraries, parks,
recreation, and animal welfare.”

Criterion 1 - Social Justice and Racial Equity
This criterion has a maximum score of 6 pts (out of a total of 26 pts).
Docusign Envelope ID: 7E7D300B-F83F-4917-A8A3-638B79C7D566
