Orange County Architectural Renovations Smith Sinnett / 2023036 <br />Hillsborough, NC Orange County Asset Management Services <br />HYDRAULIC ELEVATORS 14 24 00 - 1 <br />SECTION 14 24 00 - HYDRAULIC ELEVATORS <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br />A. Exhibits and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 <br />Specification Sections, apply to this Section. <br />B. Refer to attached Exhibits. These reports include assessment surveys and guidelines for delivering turnkey <br />modernizations of the elevators in the scope of this contract. Design based upon these specifications is delegated to <br />the manufacturer/installer and their forces and shall be submitted to the architect for review prior to construction. As <br />a clarification of terminology used in the reports, the Customer shall be the General Contractor during construction. <br />Therefore, the GC shall be responsible for scheduling, permitting, and arranging any additional resources. The owner <br />(Orange County) may choose to assist with temporary storage or not. <br />1.2 SUMMARY <br />A. This Section includes: Hydraulic passenger elevators as described in the attached Three(3) Exhibit documents. <br />Elevator work includes modernization of varying extents of: <br />1. Elevator car enclosures, hoistway entrances and signal equipment. <br />2. Jack(s). <br />3. Operation and control systems. <br />4. Accessibility provisions for physically disabled persons. <br />5. Equipment, machines, controls, systems and devices as required for safely operating the specified elevators at <br />their rated speed and capacity. <br />6. Materials and accessories as required to complete the elevator installation. <br />B. Related Sections include the following: <br />1. Division 14 Reports for three(3) elevator modernizations located at separate sites. <br />C. General contractor shall provide the following in accordance with the requirements of the Model Building Code and <br />ANSI A17.1 Code. For specific rules, refer to ANSI A17.1, Section 300 for hydraulic elevators, NCBC and NC <br />Department of Labor regulations. <br />1. Turnkey elevator modernization per the assessment reports and proposals attached. These reports diagnose <br />the current state of equipment and the scope of work needed to renovate the equipment to current code <br />standards. Otis Elevator Co. is to be considered the Basis of Design. Wherever the report references Otis, <br />manufacturers listed in Section 2.1 or approved equals shall be substituted for the purpose of base bid. <br />1.3 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Definitions in ASME A17.1 apply to work of this Section. <br />B. Defective Elevator Work: Operation or control system failure, including excessive malfunctions; performances <br />below specified ratings; excessive wear; unusual deterioration or aging of materials or finishes; unsafe conditions; <br />need for excessive maintenance; abnormal noise or vibration; and similar unusual, unexpected, and unsatisfactory <br />conditions. <br />C.
