250
Approved 8.7.24
53 up for updates on the project, they can do that. It's a website
54 orangecountylanduseplan.com, and I welcome you to do that, and I'll be back to the
55 Planning Board for your September meeting with a more detailed update on the process.
56 1 have a few links to the website, notification brochures, that I'll leave on the back table
57 here for any members of the public that might want to pick that up on their way out.
58
59 Charity Kirk: Do you know when the draft version of the plan is going to be out for discussion?
60
61 Tom Altieri: We'll have a draft version for our third wave of outreach, which will be late this year,
62 possibly early in the new year, and then that will precede a public hearing process to
63 occur later, probably after our summer meeting break next year, so ball parking around
64 the September, October timeframe for a potential county commissioner hearing and, of
65 course, a planning board recommendation that would precede it.
66
67 Charity Kirk: Thank you.
68
69 AGENDA ITEM 4: CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA
70 None.
71
72 AGENDA ITEM 5: PUBLIC CHARGE
73
74 INTRODUCTION TO THE PUBLIC CHARGE
75 The Board of County Commissioners, underthe authority of North Carolina General Statute,
76 appoints the Orange County Planning Board (OCPB) to uphold the written land
77 development law of the County. The general purpose of OCPB is to guide and accomplish
78 coordinated and harmonious development. OCPB shall do so in a manner which considers
79 the present and future needs of its citizens and businesses through efficient and responsive
80 process that contributes to and promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the overall
81 County. The OCPB will make every effort to uphold a vision of responsive governance and
82 quality public services during our deliberations, decisions, and recommendations.
83
84 PUBLIC CHARGE
85 The Planning Board pledges to the citizens of Orange County its respect. The Board asks
86 its citizens to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner, both with the Board
87 and with fellow citizens. At any time, should any member of the Board or any citizen fail to
88 observe this public charge, the Chair will ask the offending member to leave the meeting
89 until that individual regains personal control. Should decorum fail to be restored, the Chair
90 will recess the meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge is
91 observed.
92
93 Adam Beeman read the public charge.
94
95 Adam Beeman: I don't have any other comments. As of the last meeting, the staff had done their
96 presentation and the applicant tonight has 5 minutes to get up there, and he has an
97 update to something that he was adjusting from comments, so he's going to have 5
98 minutes to speak, and then the board has two people that have left to question the
99 applicant, and then we'll go to public comment. As far as public comment is concerned, if
100 you weren't here and did not sign up to speak in the June meeting, unfortunately, you will
101 not be allowed to speak tonight.
