105
To obtain information more specific to the property, hydrogeologists and geophysicists were consulted
to survey the property. Their survey disclosed on the property the robust presence of diabase dikes,
geologic formations that are highly correlated with abundant groundwater at depths of 200-400 feet.
They reported four candidate sites for wells placements they consider to have a high probability of
success in obtaining substantial water flow rates from wells drilled at those locations. In their
experience, yields from wells sited near diabase formation are typically 40 gpm or more.
F, Zhat(u) -
-4 A—*4
° 41tli Yfl
LONAK!WE&RAW Out
GMA
a `- %f LCL+bi575 II
-_rte
- rr+ru.a.L
x
i
Representatives from the Division of Water Resources, Public Water Supply Section, of the North
Carolina Department of Environmental Quality visited two candidate sites and verbally indicated that
both sites were suitable. A Letter of Compliance was sent to DEQ by H4D regarding these sites, and a
Preliminary Well Site Approval Letter is expected soon. Wells will be drilled incrementally to supply the
amount required in each phase of the project.
Fire suppression for the development will be designed to meet Orange County fire code and the
International Building Code (IBC) standards. The fire flow will be designed to meet Appendix B, Tables
B105.1(1) and (2) of the IBC. The multi-family residence building will be equipped with a sprinkler
system and final design flow requirements will be determined in the detail design phase of the project.
Any other buildings requiring sprinkler systems will be determined as the design and scope of the
project progress, Should it be determined that the buildings require sprinkler systems, the appropriate
fire flow will be determined.
