Casement and/or awning type operation is preferred. Their construction <br /> can include the following: <br /> ■ Aluminum clad wood <br /> ■ Vinyl or Vinyl clad wood <br /> ■ Fiberglass or Fiberglass clad wood <br /> Exterior Awnings and Solar Shading Devices should be constructed of metal and painted <br /> by the fabricator for a durable finish. <br /> Fencing and Screen Walls should use materials common to their adjacent building. Fencing <br /> as well as Deck material can be vinyl or composite fiber, cedar, pressure treated materials, <br /> and hardwood — including from trees on site taken down for Fiddlehead Corner development <br /> and milled. <br /> Retaining Walls should be built with attractive pre-cast interlocking masonry units or block or <br /> cast concrete with a stone or masonry veneer. <br /> ■ A cast concrete wall may be exposed if finished properly. Small walls can also be <br /> stacked stone gravity walls. <br /> ■ Walls 4' or taller need to follow code and be engineered. <br /> Mechanical Equipment and Satellite Dishes should be placed to be minimally visible from <br /> public areas and adjoining buildings. <br /> ■ Screening in the form of plantings, landscaping, walls, or fencing is appropriate. <br /> ■ Roof mounted mechanical equipment shall be screened from view, except: <br /> ■ Solar Voltaic panels on individual buildings that cannot serve their intended purpose <br /> without being visible. <br /> ZAA 22 Architectural Statement.docx Page 2 of 2 <br />
