Attachment 1 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 3 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 BUSINESS MEETING <br /> 5 November 19, 2024 <br /> 6 7:00 p.m. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Tuesday, <br /> 9 November 19, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice-Chair Sally Greene <br /> 12 and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Jean Hamilton, Earl McKee, Phyllis Portie-Ascott, and Anna <br /> 13 Richards <br /> 14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None. <br /> 15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Travis Myren, Interim Deputy County Manager <br /> 17 Caitlin Fenhagen, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be <br /> 18 identified appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. All commissioners were present. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 23 There were no changes to the agenda. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 26 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 27 There was no one signed up to speak. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 30 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 31 <br /> 32 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 33 Commissioner Portie-Ascott said she recently attended the NCACC Legislative <br /> 34 Conference. She described the process for setting goals and how they align with Orange <br /> 35 County's priorities. She suggested organizing the county's goals within the framework used by <br /> 36 the NCACC. <br /> 37 Commissioner Fowler thanked Commissioner Richards for her service on the Board. <br /> 38 She said she attended a DCHC-MPO meeting where they discussed their workplan and wildlife <br /> 39 corridors. She said that the Transportation Director presented the county's Short Range <br /> 40 Transportation Plan, the Safe Routes to School Plan, and the Transportation Multi-Modal Plan. <br /> 41 She said that she also attended a Justice United meeting where they were advocating for <br /> 42 increased funds for home repairs, as well as looking to increase the number of reentry and <br /> 43 permanent supportive housing. <br /> 44 Vice-Chair Greene thanked Commissioner Richards for her service on the Board. She <br /> 45 said she attended a Habitat for Humanity event earlier in the day celebrating their 40th <br /> 46 anniversary. She said she attended the GoTriangle special meeting to work on the strategic <br /> 47 plan. <br /> 48 Commissioner Richards said that the Orange County Partnership for Young Children is <br /> 49 updating their strategic plan, and they do this every five years. She said they have graduate <br /> 50 students working with them. She said she attended the Jordan Lake One Water meeting on <br /> 51 November 141h and said that on December 121h they are having their annual stakeholder <br />
