1 <br /> ORD-2025-002 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: January 21, 2025 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-m <br /> SUBJECT: Construction Contract Award for Multiple Orange County Architectural Projects <br /> and Approval of Budget Amendment #5-A <br /> DEPARTMENT: Asset Management Services <br /> (AMS), Budget Division <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> 1) Certified Bid Tab Angel Barnes, 919.245.2628 <br /> 2) Construction Contract Alan Dorman, 919.245.2627 <br /> Jovana Amaro, 919.245.2651 <br /> Kirk Vaughn, 919.245.2153 <br /> PURPOSE: To: <br /> 1) Approve a construction contract with Harrod and Associates Constructors, Inc. for the <br /> construction of multiple Orange County architectural projects; <br /> 2) Authorize the County Manager to execute the Agreement, subject to final review by the <br /> County Attorney, and any subsequent amendments for contingent and unforeseen <br /> requirements up to the approved budget amount on behalf of the Board; and <br /> 3) Approve Budget Amendment #5-A. <br /> BACKGROUND: In the FY 2023-2024 and FY 2024-2025 Capital Investment Plans, the Board <br /> approved funding for the following projects: <br /> • Cedar Grove Community Center Flooring Replacement <br /> • Richard E. Whitted Window Replacement including the southern elevation of the 2nd and <br /> 3rd floors of Building A and the east elevation of the 2nd and 3rd floors of Building B. <br /> • Richard E. Whitted Cornice Trim Repair/Replacement of both A & B buildings. <br /> • Richard E. Whitted Connector Elevator Modernization <br /> • Gateway Center Elevator Modernization <br /> • Orange County Courthouse Elevator Modernization for one elevator. <br /> • Piedmont Food Processing Center Window Replacement <br /> In September 2024, Orange County published an Advertisement for Bids, and on October 22, <br /> 2024, the County received three (3) sealed bids from General Contractors. <br /> The construction contract to complete the work as designed for the Architectural projects would <br /> be for$1,689,300, awarded to Harrod and Associates Constructors, Inc. Due to the consolidation <br /> of projects, the Cedar Grove Community Center Flooring Replacement Project has available <br /> funds that can be used to cover the contract price for Facades Capital Project which includes <br />
