He said they act as an advisory board. He said the update is more about local <br /> 5 accountability. He said that every individual project sponsor is now more accountable in each step <br /> 6 of drafting, creating, amending, and submitting it for approval. He said that it is no longer just a <br /> 7 division of monies. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Slide #5 <br /> New Governance <br /> 7WATiK I N s ORANGE COUNTY <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> Purpose: <br /> • create a clear, operationally efficient governance structure that ensures that <br /> Durham& Orange Counties'priorities are funded and implemented with the County <br /> transit taxes and fees. <br /> • Form new levels of accountability, which includes development of an equitable set <br /> of processes, seeking to gain further community trust. <br /> 15 Elected official&Staff Listening Sessions <br /> • 1 Elected Official Workshop <br /> • 5 Staff workshops—some involved all partners(e.g.towns) <br /> • Several Formal/Informal Legal Reviews <br /> • Which ultimately enabled the successful adoption of 2 NEW Transit Governance <br /> Interlocal Agreements for each Durham and Orange Counties <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Nishith Trivedi said that Atkins was the consulting firm and Durham and Orange Counties <br /> 12 have both been through the update and new governance process. <br />
