Please also
explain how the program aligns with the Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro's Human Services Program
Results Framework and/or Orange County's BOCC Goals and Priorities (250 words or less).
Target Population
The program target population demographics table is included as an
attachement on the application cover page. Please download the excel
spreadsheet and fill out the demographic data in the table and then upload it
with your application. Provide one copy per program that you are requesting
funding for.
Program Cost
This cost per individual must reflect the total program budget divided by the
total number of program individuals in this application.
The program provides classes to 16 parents (all populations) at-risk for child
abuse and neglect. In 2021-2022, 1,000 children were reported abused or
neglected in Orange County which is a 21.19% increase from the previous year
and 95 children remain in custody (Duncan et al., 12/2023). The long-term
effects of COVID-19 on individual mental health and family systems have led to
issues increasing these numbers over the past years (Nguyen, 08/2021; & Reali
et al., 11/2022). Three courses are 12 weeks for 1.5-hour classes held in Chapel
Hill and in Hillsborough accessible to families and in cases of pandemic virtually.
The curriculum is evidence-informed and addresses issues of trauma prevention.
Barriers are reduced by providing snacks, childcare, and transportation. The
program aligns with Chapel Hill and Carrboro goals by increasing livelihoods
security by addressing poverty issues contributing to neglect, ensuring a high
quality of life through the absence of violence by preventing family violence,
improving health outcomes by increasing new healthy lifestyle behaviors,
promoting well-being, and increasing life skills. The program aligns with Orange
County goals and priorities by contributing to a network of basic human services
that promotes family well-being. The program also improves the quality of life for
individuals by treating trauma and teaching resiliency to protect from future
issues occurring or how to heal faster if they do occur. The program contributes
to society by helping clients make healthy choices, heal from trauma, and prevent
violence, poverty, substance abuse, and homelessness from being generational
cycles.
Docusign Envelope ID: A5B4FFD3-9664-4EA0-9937-6709C85D11FD
