Orange County Commission for the Environment
Meeting Summary
November 11th 2024; 7:00 pm
Hybrid Meeting
VII. Community Climate Action Grant Round 4—Ranking
CFE members continued to discuss ranking for the Community Climate Action Grant and
came up with the following recommendation for the BOCC: $19,800 for Empowerment;
$22,600 for Eno River Association; $50,000 for Habitat for Humanity; $12,000 for
Jubilee Healing Farm; $50,000 for Solar Equity; $50,000 for Trees for the Triangle; and
$58,100 for Urban Sustainability Solutions. The CFE only had $262,500 to work with so
many were not funded and some only partially funded. The CFE worked to draft
comments to explain their reasoning. Jane Harris motioned to approve the
recommendation; seconded by John Bucher: all in favor; none opposed; motion passed.
VIII. Updates and Information Items
• Chris Himi notified the CFE that discussion and work on the State of the
Environment Report was coming next meeting, so get ready.
• Regina reminded the CFE that at the next meeting there would be a small celebration
so bring something to share if you want.
IX. Adjournment
Jane Harris motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 pm; seconded by Mark Randall; all
in favor; none opposed; motion passed.
