2 <br />such time the building plans are formulated by architects, Access roadways to parking areas <br />and bus loops to each of the future facilities would be developed by the architects as well. <br />In November 1998, the County Commissioners endorsed the building footprint in the <br />southwestern corner of the Southern Human Services Center Site as the Senior Center location <br />(site #1 on map #1; site D on the conservation map), The Board will note that the proximity of <br />the Institute on Aging's proposed development on the adjacent Horace Williams property was a <br />significant factor in the designation of this site far the Senior Center, The current plans for the <br />property, now called Carolina North, do not include such development by the Institute on Aging, <br />In order to assess compliance with the County's own conservation goals with regard to <br />development impact, the ERGD was requested to provide a preliminary evaluation of the site as <br />well. The attached document and map have been revised from the version presented in the <br />Jamaary 2004 Board retreat materials to more specifically correlate to the possible building sites <br />identified on the Southern Human Services Center Master Plan and to point out the advantages <br />and challenges of each. <br />As a reminder, no plans have been cited for the building footprints on this site, with the <br />exception of possible fixture justice facilities, tentatively suggested for Site A on the <br />conservation map and expansion of the Southern Human Services Center, which would occur <br />to the east end of the existing building, site E on the conservation map, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the preferred <br />footprint on the Southern Human Services Center site upon which the Southern Orange Senior <br />Center will be located, <br />
