11 <br /> 1 Some of the key highlights of the Plan include: <br /> 2 • Students walking and cycling to school include — Orange Middle and High School, <br /> 3 Hillsborough Elementary, Efland Cheeks Global Elementary, Gravely Hill Middle, River <br /> 4 Park Elementary, Pathways Elementary, and Cedar Ridge High School <br /> 5 • Recommendations include: <br /> 6 - Crosswalks at intersections and mid-block crosswalks near schools <br /> 7 - Reduced speed zones and other traffic calming measures <br /> 8 - Extending sidewalks to rural areas and filling in gaps in urban areas <br /> 9 - Multi-use Paths and Greenways along major corridors and some secondary roads <br /> 10 <br /> 11 The County's Transportation Advisory Service (TAS) and Orange Unified Transportation Board <br /> 12 (OUTBoard) recommended the SRTS be approved by the Board of County Commissioners. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 TAS Action: <br /> 15 September 26, 2024 — Unanimous approval <br /> 16 <br /> 17 OUTBoard Action: <br /> 18 September 30, 2024 — Unanimous approval with: <br /> 19 • Narrative emphasizing each school to pursue Municipal and School Transportation <br /> 20 Assistance (MSTA) with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to <br /> 21 address car line and its impact on State roads. <br /> 22 .
