59 <br /> Public Housing Condition <br /> Public Housing Development Average Inspection Score <br /> AMP1 (161 units) 53 <br /> AMP2 (175 units) 42 <br /> Table 37-Public Housing Condition <br /> Describe the restoration and revitalization needs of public housing units in the jurisdiction. <br /> While the Town of Chapel Hill has conducted comprehensive renovations on much of their public <br /> housing stock in the last decade, recent inspection scores underscore the need for a more complete <br /> modernization of the Town's public housing stock. Included in this need (and as discussed earlier in this <br /> plan) is the need to provide more accessible units. <br /> Describe the public housing agency's strategy for improving the living environment of low- <br /> and moderate-income families residing in public housing. <br /> The Town of Chapel Hill intends to improve its public housing management and the physical conditions <br /> of its public housing developments. Included in this are efforts to increase the number of accessible <br /> units to disabled populations and to deconcentrate poverty within its developments. <br /> Discussion <br /> As stated throughout this plan,there is a need for more affordable housing in Orange County. <br /> Unfortunately,the number of public housing and Housing Choice Voucher units offered in the County <br /> have remained the same since the previous Consolidated Plan as a result of no new federal funding. <br /> Further, inspection scores suggest that the quality of public housing in the County has decreased since <br /> the previous Consolidated Plan. <br /> While a number of nonprofit entities provide affordable housing in the community,there is a need for <br /> additional public housing units and Housing Choice Vouchers to meet the needs of extremely low- <br /> income households—that is,those earning below 30%AMI.These households are often the hardest-to- <br /> house for nonprofit groups. <br /> FFY 2020–2024 Orange County, NC HOME Consortium 56 <br /> Consolidated Plan <br /> OMB Control No:2506-0117(exp.06/30/2018) <br />
