3600 North Duke St STE 1,#1388,Durham,NC 27704 <br />Proposal for Dr.Dawn X.Henderson Consulting Engagement <br />Orange County Office of Equity and Inclusion <br />Revised:October 18,2024 <br />Project Description and Scope:The Orange County Office of Equity and Inclusion aims to pilot <br />an initiative designed to prepare young people to serve as community researchers and be <br />positioned to inform decisions that impact their community and,more broadly,Orange <br />County.The primary goals of this project include:1)Engage up to 15 young people across <br />Orange County in a piloted summer Youth Power Building session;and 2)Create a strategy <br />that integrates young people in decision structures within the Human Relations Commission <br />and broader Orange County. <br />Dr.Dawn X.Henderson,doing business under WeClaim Research,LLC,will deliver 1)a Youth <br />Power Building summer session and 2)an evaluation report of the Youth Power Building <br />session and a subsequent strategy for continued youth engagement.The Youth Power Building <br />session will launch the broader strategy of the Orange County Office of Equity and Inclusion to <br />position young people as experts and knowledge generators who inform the county’s policies, <br />programming,and practices.Dr.Henderson will lead both deliverables,leveraging her <br />expertise to guide the work,inform strategies,and engage youth-serving partners.Dr. <br />Henderson will provide the Orange County Office of Equity and Inclusion with an evaluation <br />report to inform future youth engagement strategies. <br />Timeline:November 1,2024 to August 30,2025 <br />Goals,Objectives,and Core Activities <br />Goal 1:Engage up to 15 young people across Orange County in a piloted summer Youth <br />Power Building session. <br />Objective 1.1.Refine and finalize the Youth Power Building session curriculum by the <br />People's Research Council by December 2024. <br />Core Activities: <br />●Research YPAR/youth leadership development models <br />●Gather feedback from youth <br />●Outline the Youth Power Building expectations <br />●Revise the curriculum to be responsive to youth input and feedback <br />Objective 1.2.Recruit and select 15 young people,ages 16 to 19,in partnership with <br />the Orange County Office of Equity and Inclusion for the Youth Power Building session <br />by May 2025. <br />Core Activities: <br />●Review application materials <br />●Create selection criteria for Youth Power Building session <br />●Identify a recruitment and selection process <br />Docusign Envelope ID: 48740BF3-03AA-4A4F-AA52-EA3090F69700
