Cirruculum and <br />Enrichment <br />Curricular Goals: <br />The Terrific Tundras project will give students an opportunity to learn <br />across multiple disciplines–literacy, science (animals, plants, ecology, the <br />five senses), art, etc. This is direct alignment with NC Arts Standards. <br />Social Emotional Learning–Students will learn to work together in a positive <br />and impactful way. They will directly see how we are all connected together <br />and must work together in our own classrooms and larger communities. <br />Audience Description CES students and staff will be audience members during the school day; <br />community members will also visit the rainforest at specified times. The <br />demographics for the CES student body is as follows: W hite-54%; Latinx- <br />31%; Multiracial-6%; Asian-4%; Black-4%; Native American-1%. W e <br />expect families and community members of all ages and ethnicities to make <br />up the tundra viewers from outside of the school community. <br />Location Description Carrboro Elementary School has its own stage and auditorium where the <br />tundra will be erected (backstage). The area around the school is a very <br />walkable community and there is ample parking at the school for folks who <br />plan to visit the tundra exhibit. <br />Artist Description In this case, the artists will be the approximately 500 students at Carrboro <br />Elementary (grades K- 5). Students will be led by the art teacher at CES, <br />Ms. Deb Cox. Deb Cox has a BFA in K-12 Visual Arts from Syracuse <br />University. She has taught Art for over 25 years in the NC public schools. <br />Her resume is included. <br />Are you hiring <br />multicultural artists <br />with the requested <br />funds from this <br />grant? <br />No <br />How will the <br />project/program be <br />publicized and <br />promoted to reach <br />intended <br />participants? <br />The Carrboro Elementary School community is experienced in getting the <br />word out immersive art exhibits. All students will be aware of it as they will <br />work on the 3-D items and signage that will be part of the tundra biome they <br />build. Staff and parents will certainly hear about the tundra from the <br />students! In addition, there will be flyers hung throughout the school. <br />Newsletters to parents (teacher, PTA, principal) will all have information <br />about the tundra. <br />How will you <br />evaluate the success <br />of the program? <br />The success of the program will be measured by the number of attendees, <br />comments from CES staff, and the reflections of students–who are always <br />honest about how they think things went! <br />PROJECT/PROGRAM <br />BUDGET <br />Please fill out the charts below with your project's expenses and income. <br />Use the "Explanation" box to offer details for each category.
