All students in the school will be
involved in creating the play in some way during their art classes—set
development, costume design, technical set-up—but the fourth and fifth
graders will actually perform and act as the technical crew for the play.
Being a major part of the annual school play is something that 4th and 5th
graders very much look forward to in their elementary school career.
Students will have a chance to develop their presentation skills, work
together as a team, learn through written text how to interpret the mood of
a piece of writing and its intent, and to build their self-confidence. CES has
its own auditorium and there will be multiple shows performed in early 2025
so that the entire school, family members, and community members will all
have a chance to view it. These are always sold-out performances. Funds
will be used for costuming, sets, and props.
Project Start Date
(no earlier than July
1, 2024)
September 1, 2024
Project End Date (no
later than June 30,
2025)
March 1, 2025
Project Goals Produce a high-quality play of Peter Pan that involves all elementary
school students from Carrboro Elementary;
Expose students to the many different art experiences as they create the
props, backgrounds, costumes, etc. for the play;
Increase student performance confidence, especially 4th and 5th graders,
who will have the major roles in the play and act as technical staff;
Perform Peter Pan for the CES students, staff, families, and community
members in at least five performances.
Cirruculum and
Enrichment
Visual and Performing Arts, Theater, Social and Emotional Learning,
Literacy decoding.
Docusign Envelope ID: D35775E7-17E4-4106-BBF0-DA34B930C40E
