Nature of <br />Organization <br />Non-arts Organization <br />Organization <br />Description <br />Human Kindness Foundation creates, curates and distributes free <br />resources and conducts workshops about spirituality, mindfulness and <br />wellness for people experiencing incarceration and their families. Our work <br />is designed specifically for and with justice-involved individuals and justice- <br />impacted audiences. <br />Spiritual growth often happens in our darkest moments. Human Kindness <br />Foundation gives people experiencing incarceration simple tools to deepen <br />spiritual practices and promote wellbeing. <br />The people we work with have taught us that freedom, peace and beauty <br />are present even in the darkest places. W e believe unconditional love and <br />unquestioning inclusion can help people become the best version of <br />themselves. <br />Relationships are the heart of our work. W e build relationships with the <br />wide network of people affected by the criminal legal system, particularly <br />those who are currently or have previously experienced incarceration and <br />their families and prison and jail staff and volunteers. <br />------------ <br />The Orange County Community Remembrance Coalition formed organically <br />in the summer of 2018, in response to the opening of the National Memorial <br />for Peace and Justice by the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery AL. A <br />group of friends and colleagues in Orange County, NC, convened a <br />meeting to talk about the pressing need to recognize the sufferings and <br />sacrifices of our foremothers and forefathers in ways that would respect <br />them and their descendants, as well as the affected communities, past and <br />present. <br />W e are a coalition community-based organizations and concerned <br />individuals that have civil rights, equity and justice as part of their mission <br />or vision. The mission of the Coalition is to recognize the victims of racial <br />terror lynching in Orange County, named and unknown. Our work is to <br />disrupt and overcome the detrimental systems and mindsets that have <br />plagued America for generations, and to help usher forth a future of <br />humanity, equity and justice for all of us. <br />OCCRC goals are to carry out a set of undertakings in partnership with <br />EJI, namely: <br />-Soils collection research and events pertaining to the location of the <br />lynchings of the five known victims in Orange County <br />-Essay contests for Orange County public high school students on topics <br />related to racial terror <br />-Installation of historical markers to honor victims of lynching, <br />-Installation in Orange County of a duplicate of the memorial located at the <br />National Memorial for Peace and Justice. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: 16E66793-3E26-4E39-A35F-F0AC9D3BF45C
