Ms. Neville describes her current students as “musically very <br />strong” and would like the opportunity for both the 8th grade band and <br />orchestra students to perform and compete together. This would be the first <br />experience for the 8th graders to perform as a full orchestra. The composer <br />who she feels is most qualified to create a piece for the Smith Middle <br />School students is Kieran Casey, a composer who has substituted at SMS <br />and someone who knows the students’ capabilities and interests (as he <br />worked with them last year at SMS while he was subbing for the Chorus <br />teacher).
