W orkshops Program in Orange County will <br />introduce 5th-grade students to the field of architectural design through an <br />imaginative and fun experience. By exposing students to architecture at an <br />early age, the program helps them understand the opportunities available in <br />this field. Each workshop is designed to be engaging, educational, and <br />hands-on, ensuring that students gain a comprehensive introduction to <br />architecture. <br />Each workshop includes the following elements: <br />1. Presentation by a Design Professional <br />- Overview of Architecture and Design: A professional architect or artist will <br />facilitate a presentation on what architecture entails and its importance in <br />shaping our community. <br />- Architectural Tools: The presentation will cover some of the essential <br />tools and techniques used by architects in their work. <br />2. Discussion and Idea Generation: Students will participate in a group <br />discussion to share their thoughts and ideas about architecture and design. <br />This interactive session encourages students to think creatively and <br />collaboratively. <br />3. Hands-on Design Activity <br />- Building Structures with Legos: Students will engage in a hands-on <br />activity where they build their own structures using Lego bricks. This <br />activity promotes creativity and spatial thinking. <br />- W riting Prompts: Alongside the building activity, students will respond to <br />writing prompts that encourage them to articulate their design ideas. <br />- AI-Generated Renderings: Prism staff will combine pictures of the <br />students' Lego creations and writing prompts to render images of their <br />creations via an AI generator.
